My New Website is coming soon.....
You may have noticed that not much has happened with the blog lately, well probably not but I'm letting you know it has been for good reason. It's been a huge month for me. I have moved from the busy Melbourne and come back to the quiet Gold Coast in QLD. Career Suicide for a VFX artist some may say but I prefer to think of it as reflection time to focus on other things. Friends, family and healthy living mainly.
However in the mean time I am rebuilding a new website that will be up with in a week or so and once that is complete, I will doing a bunch of VFX tutorials and experiments and posting them online here.
So Look out for my new website shortly.

shutterstock is not for me.....
I created a shutterstock account with the intention of uploading all of my previous and future photo's that "I" like, and thought it would be great to make some $ as well. As it turns out each photo has to go through a very extensive process of being evaluated. The list of requirements for each photo and classification is a mile long and can be rejected if it doesn't suit there needs as a product..
So I have decided to go with Flickr, so far I have uploaded only a few photo's and already the features seem to be exactly what I'm looking for. I'm interested in showing my photos and also discussing ideas and techniques with friends over making cash anyway.
Bye Shutterstock you suck.
For video i'm sticking with vimeo for now but i will see how Flickr's Video & Audio Compression is and comment later on.

Mornington Peninsula - HDRI
Each photo is a combination of three images using the bracketing exposure function on the 5D Mark II and Photoshop.
If you you look closely you can see the boat masts don't line up as they must have moved between shots.
It gives a slight ghosting effect.
The reason for taking three photo's is so when combined I get a full High Dynamic Range (HDR) and the colours are more vibrant and the sky isn't blown out and I haven't lost detail in the dark areas.

Sentinel Chase Sequence
Being a massive X-men fan I thought of shooting a Sentinal Chase sequence just for fun. Also wanted to test the limits of 3d tracking to see what I could pull off 'Cloverfield' style.
This is still on the to do list but at least I've shot it and got the concepts out of the way.
The arm transforms into a cannon that shoots solidified fat balls at bullet like speeds.
